The six largest Italian Banks ended 2020, the year of the outbreak of the pandemic, with a 5.5 €billion loss. Based on the analysis carried out by Value Partners, the Banks have worked virtuously on loans with significant write-downs (impact of -12 €billion on profit) and new challenges are emerging for them, such as the enhancement of deposits, which increased during the past year due to the lower propensity to spend and invest.
